About the Artist
| Francis Njoku aka ‘Franque Fire’ is a visual artist born on November 1, 1991in Owerri, Imo State Southern Eastern part of Nigeria. A native of Eziala Enyiogugu community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area. As a young contemporary visual artist my painting works perspective looks at the independent, social and astral relationship circle within my community and environment, as I choose to represent them in abstract and vivid stories from my local explorations. Artistic Skills revolves around acrylic painting, mixed media and appliqué, charcoal and oil painting. The title of the work CHOICE from the 2020 series “Nwanyi” is taking us back to the root when African women lived together in their uniqueness building homes and communities, this is an open expression that may not suggest polygamy but also uses polygamy exemplary tool for women’s unity in a society. A man’s choice in this case can be any fruit and also fruit salad depending on what he can carter for. However, the most important ingredient here still remains the ability for African women to use their individual uniqueness not to stir differences but to encourage love, peace and joy in the growth of the society and beauty of the environment like it was in the old days of great kings, queens and kingdoms.
