That deep connection to his craft started with something simple but powerful – the joy of making people laugh. “I discovered that I always felt pure joy whenever I made people laugh,” he recalls. “That joy became my drive.”

Every creative has someone they look up to. For Herenz, that person is the celebrated comedian K.O. Baba Johnson. “He inspires me greatly,” he says with admiration. “Watching him perform and evolve has taught me so much about consistency and growth.”
And growth is something MC Herenz takes seriously. In a fast-changing industry where trends shift overnight, he stays ahead by staying fresh. “I constantly rebrand my content to keep it relatable,” he explains. “That’s how I stay relevant.”

When asked about his aspirations, his answer comes with quiet conviction: “To keep growing in my craft and to make Laugh More one of the biggest comedy platforms in Africa.”

As he marks another milestone with the 11th edition of Laugh More & Award Nite, MC Herenz admits the excitement comes with a hint of nervousness. “Honestly, I feel nervous because it’s my first time hosting it on this scale,” he says.
This year’s edition is extra special, as it coincides with his birthday. “My birthday, October 11th, has always been special,” he says with a smile. “If I could turn it into a comedy special, I’d call it Laugh More because laughter defines my journey.”
And the lineup promises to be star-studded. “We have legends like Julius Agwu, K.O. Baba, and many amazing performers joining us,” he reveals. “It’s going to be unforgettable.”
On Inspiration and Integrity
When asked who he’d love to share the stage with, his answer is instant: “Basketmouth. He’s one of my biggest inspirations.”
But beyond the names and fame, MC Herenz’s authenticity sets him apart. “What makes me stand out? I’m proud of what I do, and I put my heart into it,” he says firmly.
His favourite food fufu and egusi soup and his most treasured possession his God-given talent may seem simple, but they mirror his grounded nature.
And his guiding philosophy? “When you celebrate people, people will celebrate you,” he says, a quote that defines both his career and his character.

MC Herenz is also passionate about giving back. “I want to support upcoming talents who have the zeal and drive to grow,” he shares. “The entertainment industry in Nigeria is making great progress, and I want to be part of that growth by adding value through mentorship.”
To younger entertainers, his advice is clear and practical: “Stay focused. Never lose sight of your vision. Brand yourself and build your fan base.”
