Oge Nwanyi

Oge Nwanyi is a mix media painting which tends to reflect the grace and glory of womanhood. The subject centrally sits on a white tiled floor as she gaze out of the canvas with extreme confidence, slender tree trunks bearing leaves without veins sprouts out of her head like a crown and bearing flowers as a sign of her beauty. The texture of her skin was beautifully rendered with charcoal as a celebration of blackness and the hands stealing her flowers represents the odd circumstances surrounding women. The essence of Oge Nwanyi is to challenge the narrative of women being objectified in our society. It seeks to provoke the thoughts of the viewer as to what it feels like to be a woman and if really being a woman is a burden or not.
