My Leaving Cultism Was A Divine Encounter- Reggae Icon, Buchi

Renowned Nigerian reggae icon, Buchi Atuonwu, has for the first time publicly shared the chilling moment that led him to abandon cultism and embrace Christianity.
In a recent interview with Black Flame, Buchi opened up about his spiritual awakening, revealing that his departure from cultism was triggered by a divine encounter.
According to him, everything changed the moment he met Jesus and became born again.
“Jesus gave me a new understanding,” Buchi said. “He showed me the true nature of cultism, it wasn’t just a physical brotherhood; it was deeply spiritual. You can’t fight spiritual battles with physical weapons.”
Buchi recalled a haunting experience from his past when he was performing in the early hours of the morning, surrounded by eerie imagery.
“We were marching and singing around 2 a.m., while some people carried coffins on their heads, others held red lamps,” he said. “Then, a voice whispered in my ear, ‘You don’t belong here.’ I ignored it, but the voice came again and that’s when the trouble began.”
Following that moment, Buchi said his life took a chaotic turn, as he began running from rival cults and law enforcement. His eventual decision to follow Christ, he says, not only gave him peace but also saved his life.
