CAF President Patrice Motsepe has disclosed that Grammy Award–winning Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy, encountered an unexpected delay at a Moroccan airport while en route to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.
Speaking at a recent press briefing, Motsepe revealed that the singer was briefly held by customs officials over issues relating to his jewellery.
According to him, the matter was swiftly and amicably resolved following his intervention.
“Recently, I was called to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I stepped in, and the issue was resolved,” Motsepe said.
Despite the incident, Burna Boy went on to headline the TotalEnergies AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16.
The event also featured performances by Ghanaian star Stonebwoy, alongside Moroccan artistes Stormy and Jaylann.
