Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Adekunle Gold, has been honoured with a street named after him in Lagos.

The 38-year-old Afrobeats star shared the proud moment with fans on Instagram, posting a video from the unveiling ceremony. In the clip, Adekunle Gold was seen with his wife, Simi, and their daughter, Deja, as they jointly unveiled the signpost bearing his full name “Adekunle Kosoko Street.”

Expressing gratitude for the gesture, the “Sade” crooner wrote, “Adekunle Kosoko Street. The city that raised me now carries my name. Thank you, Lord, for my many blessings.”

The honour is particularly symbolic, as the artist born Adekunle Kosoko descends from the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island. His lineage traces back to Oba Kosoko, the former King of Lagos, who ruled from 1845 to 1851.

The street naming marks another milestone in Adekunle Gold’s illustrious career, celebrating both his musical achievements and deep historical roots in Lagos.
