U.S. Congressman Visits Nigeria Over Christian Genocide

By Cookey Mba
A United States lawmaker representing Virginia’s Second District has arrived in Nigeria for what he describes as an official and spiritually inspired mission.
The congressman announced his visit on Sunday through a post on his official X handle, stating that he was in Nigeria “in the name of the Lord and on behalf of the American people.”
He wrote: “Just ending a very productive visit to Nigeria and rounds of meetings. More details to come. Happy Sunday. God is Great!”
While he did not disclose the specific purpose of his trip, the visit comes at a time when U.S. legislators are intensifying inquiries into alleged systematic attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria.
This follows continued concerns in parts of the U.S. Congress over what some lawmakers describe as “targeted violence” by extremist groups against Christians in Nigeria, claims the Nigerian government has repeatedly dismissed as inaccurate and misleading.
The congressman’s engagements and the outcomes of his visit are expected to generate significant interest, particularly within diplomatic and religious circles.
