China Backs Nigeria Against Terrorism , Accelerates Zero-Tariff Deal

China’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between both nations.
According to a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy, the meeting focused on advancing the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both sides expressing satisfaction over the steady growth of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Yu highlighted that relations between the two countries have entered a “fast track,” driven by joint commitment and expanding areas of collaboration. He further affirmed China’s support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, emphasizing Beijing’s readiness to deepen cooperation on security and stability.
He also reaffirmed China’s willingness to work closely with Nigeria to fast-track the implementation of the zero-tariff policy on Nigerian exports, a move expected to boost Nigeria’s access to the Chinese market and stimulate trade growth.
The meeting underscores renewed momentum in Nigeria-China relations as both countries explore broader opportunities in trade, security, infrastructure, and investment.
