Defence HQ Boost Security Ahead of Christmas Celebrations

By Kosi Tochukwu

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has assured Nigerians of heightened security measures during the Christmas festivities.

In a statement on Sunday, Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, said additional troops, special forces, and air support have been deployed to strategic locations nationwide.

Surveillance, including aerial monitoring and intelligence gathering, has been intensified to track suspected criminal groups. Unit commanders have been directed to strengthen patrols, establish fortified checkpoints, and collaborate closely with community leaders, vigilante groups, and state security formations.

Citizens cooperation is critical to national security. Reports of suspicious activity will be treated with urgency and confidentiality. We urge vigilance while remaining calm,” Onoja said, conveying Christmas and New Year greetings from Chief of Defence Staff Gen. O.O. Oluyede.
