Nile Cinemas, West Africa’s fastest-growing film entertainment brand, has expanded its footprint to eight locations across Nigeria through the integration of VIVA Cinemas in Ikeja, Ibadan, Ilorin, and Enugu. The move aims to widen audience access and deepen cinema culture nationwide.
Announcing the expansion in Lagos, Nile Cinemas highlighted that the integration strengthens its presence across the South-West, South-East, and North-Central zones while supporting its mission to revive and upgrade existing cinema spaces.
With the addition of VIVA locations, Nile Cinemas now operates at THC Cinemax (Iju Road), Royal Roots Cinema (Ikota), Vintano Hotels, Delborough Hotel Victoria Island its exclusive luxury cinema and the newly acquired VIVA sites.
Moses Babatope, Group CEO of Nile Media & Entertainment Group, described the acquisition as a strategic milestone, noting it brings the brand closer to diverse audiences and reinforces its commitment to premium and enjoyable cinema experiences. He added that the success of the Delborough Hotel luxury cinema reflects Nile’s ability to meet the growing demand for intimate, high-quality movie experiences.
The company plans phased upgrades at all VIVA locations, including enhanced seating, improved sound and picture quality, streamlined ticketing, and a more immersive ambiance.
Biola Sokenu, Group COO, emphasised that VIVA’s staff and loyal customers remain central to the transition. Meanwhile, Mrs. Ayo Amusan, Managing Director of Persianas Group, owners of VIVA Cinemas, described the partnership as a step that will redefine cinema experiences across the country.
Over the past year, Nile Cinemas has expanded through multiple takeovers and management agreements and plans to extend its operations to the South-South, North-West, and North-East regions in the near future.
