Former Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, has reaffirmed his firm commitment to the principle of Imo Equity, describing it as the foundation for fairness, inclusiveness and balanced development across Imo State.

Senator Ararume made the assertion while speaking with journalists at his country home, where he shared his views on prevailing political developments at the national and state levels, as well as the prospects of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State.

He explained that Imo Equity embodies fairness in governance, equitable distribution of development projects, inclusiveness in political appointments and the just allocation of state resources among the various zones and interest groups in the state. He stressed that equity must be pursued with honesty and integrity, noting that “those who seek equity must do so with clean hands.”

Sen. Araraume called for transparency and fairness in political engagements and pledged his support for any candidate produced by his party for elective office, provided such candidature aligns with the ideals of equity and justice. According to him, party unity and adherence to established frameworks are crucial for lasting political stability and development in the state.

Responding to questions from journalists, Senator Ararume declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid, attributing his endorsement to the President’s reform-oriented and progressive leadership.

He acknowledged that although the administration faced early challenges, it has begun to record measurable achievements across key sectors of the economy.

He further noted that the growing defection of prominent political figures and stakeholders from opposition parties to the APC reflects increasing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and policy direction.

At the state level, Senator Ararume commended the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, describing its performance as impressive, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, security and institutional reforms.

He urged the people of Imo State to continue to support the government’s efforts to sustain peace and fast-track development.

The APC stalwart also called on party members and supporters to register, update and re-validate their membership, noting that the party’s online registration platform has simplified the process and expanded access for both old and new members seeking to be part of the party.

On the role of the media, Senator Araraume urged journalists to uphold the highest standards of fair, balanced and objective reporting, emphasising that the media, as the Fourth Estate of the Realm, plays a vital role in promoting good governance, accountability and democracy.

He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration between political leaders and the media would further strengthen democratic values and drive national development.
