Smoke Over Dubai Airport as Drone Attacks Rock UAE

An explosion was reportedly heard over Dubai International Airport on Saturday, followed by a cloud of smoke seen rising into the air, according to a witness who spoke with Agence France-Presse.
Data from Flightradar24 showed several aircraft circling above the airport in what appeared to be a holding pattern shortly after the incident.
Despite the disruption, limited flight operations resumed on Monday at Dubai’s main airport the world’s busiest hub for international travel even as drone attacks continued to target locations across the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement posted on X, the Dubai Media Office said the situation involved “a minor incident resulting from the fall of debris after an interception,” while also dismissing circulating reports suggesting a major attack on the airport.
Authorities earlier confirmed that four airport staff were injured and part of a concourse sustained damage during the incident last Saturday. The development came as regional tensions escalated following military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Officials from Dubai Airports said the situation was quickly brought under control, though they provided limited details.
In recent days, Iranian attacks have reportedly targeted several high-profile locations in the UAE, including Abu Dhabi International Airport, the luxury waterfront district Palm Jumeirah, and the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel.
Drone debris also sparked a fire at the United States Consulate General Dubai earlier this week.
