Alone For Christmas? Self Love Is All You Need

Christmas time is often associated with family and getting together with loved ones. However, for a variety of reasons, you may sometimes find yourself spending Christmas alone.

If this is the case, don’t despair. The most important thing to remember is that you should be patient and gentle with yourself. If you’re feeling low or not in the mood to celebrate, that’s absolutely fine.

But know that loving yourself has to happen before you can bring the best of yourself to a relationship. There’s this saying that you can’t give what you don’t have. Self-love is the greatest gift you can give to yourself this season. Expressing love for yourself shows up in a variety of ways, let’s examine a few.

  1. Positive Affirmations

Create a healthy habit of frequently reminding yourself of just how amazing you are. Having that belief in yourself decreases the chances of you needing validation from someone else. Expecting a partner to complete you and constantly validate you is unrealistic. Affirming yourself builds your character and confidence and ultimately makes you easier to love.

2.      Self-care is key

Self-care is an important part of living a healthy and happy lifestyle. Looking after yourself both mentally and physically is crucial to taking control of your health. Focus on the things you enjoy. Pamper yourself silly, go to the spa, use your poshest toiletries, your best towel, your nicest fragrance can be a really uplifting way to start the day and a great alternative to getting dressed up for the festivities. Don’t forget be in the mist of your loved ones.

  • Embrace “me-time”

Spending quality time alone also has its advantages. You have to not only be okay with, but actually seek, moments of solitude. It is healthy for everyone. Who knows? Next year you might be with a partner. Before the person comes along, enjoy your moments.

  • Write a goals list for 2022

Setting goals gives your life direction and boosts levels of motivation, too. As well as a time of reflection, writing down what you want to achieve next year is a brilliant way to focus on the positives – and put yourself first.

Grab a notebook, pen and start dreaming…
